melayneseahawk: (don't fuck with me)
The last two weeks or so have been awful, but that seems to be over. Posting of fic, meta, etc. will resume this evening, but until then, have an overview:

Thanksgiving was less horrific than it might have been, since I spent a lot of time cooking or baking and the extra family that Mom was going to invite wasn't able to make it. Still the typical family holiday (lots of people yelling at each other for no reason at all), and the new thing I baked was surprisingly boring, but my other desserts were successful and Mom and I make some damned good veggies. Will post the dark chocolate pie recipe tomorrow sometime, but since I've never seen the pie sit still long enough to take a picture of, you won't have images to drool over.

School is boring me to tears, but I'm kicking its ass, so I shouldn't complain. Highlight for that was the 5-page paper and accompanying presentation that I threw together between 9pm and 4:30am I threw together on Sunday night, plus an ingenious last-minute costume to go with it. There will be pictures (and explanation) of that, too.

That's about all that's going on around here. There will be fic this evening. Now to go wash bathrooms (eugh).
melayneseahawk: (plot tribbles)
And, apparently, when I get bored, I code.

So, I have updated (and created, when necessary) lists of all my writing, fanfiction and original. You can find the lists here.

Now to actually write. And do homework. And housework. Bleh.

Weekend Round-Up

melayneseahawk: (not canon)
Saw Start Trek with the fam for Mothers' Day. I rather enjoyed it overall, though I thought that the spoilers )

Honestly, my biggest problem was the fact that they didn't have the heavy Kirk/Spock subtext of the original series. But I'm a slasher at heart, I suppose.

The Geekling had prom last night, and he had fun, which is awesome. He's the first member of our branch of the family to go to prom, and I'm glad he wasn't one of the many people who internalizes the hype and then is let down. I intend to pick his brain sometime tomorrow when Mom's out. It's cute; he almost wants to tell them what he was up to.

I made the mistake of going with the 'rents to a bar last night, an experience I do not intend to repeat. We went to a local Irish pub/restaurant for dinner, then stuck around at the bar to listen to the live band. The band was pretty crap, and Mum and Da spent the entire time being subtly hostile toward one another. Add to that the fact that I ache all over and the fact that Da got a Crackberry a few months ago and has terrible phone etiquette, and you can imagine that a terrible time was had by all.

It's been decided that I probably tensed up when I fell, which is why I hurt all over. It's gradually getting better, and the headache went away yesterday, so I'm clearly on the mend. My eye is a vision, but between the fact that it's just the top half of the socket and the obstruction of my glasses frames, I just look like I put eye make-up on one eye and not the other.

Now I'm going to go take my second batch of pills and putter until midnight. I should be working on the second [livejournal.com profile] lgbtfest fic (OMG I'm going to miss the second deadline they gave me, I suck so much), but I'm probably just going to go to bed.

Busy, Day Two

I'm also going to be hanging out with [livejournal.com profile] triannamaxwell today, so the awesome of that outweighs the gross of washing bathtubs.

A Question

Tuesday, 5 May 2009 13:20
melayneseahawk: (future)
So, I'm trying to organize my room, which is unpleasant because I've got to unpack the stuff from the apartment, and I was in the process of packing my room at the parents', and I never finished. I'm running into stuff that I hung onto for no reason I can figure, and I'm trying to decide what to keep and what to throw out.

I've been told that things like old yearbooks and the handful of journals I started and then abandoned are things I should be keeping. What about old school papers? I've got what amounts to four milk crates of old school papers, mostly from high school. Should I be keeping any of it? I thought, at one point, that hanging onto the subjects I might use again (English, history, theatre, etc.) might be useful, but then I actually looked at the stuff and I'm not so sure. Even my (in)famous history notes based on Mr. Hines' lectures don't make much sense viewed four years later.

Really, I'm just procrastinating. But I'm curious what things people kept from their childhoods, and what they threw away.
melayneseahawk: (overrated)
No, I didn't sleep last night, which I'm certain I will regret later, but it made sense at the time. I have to be at work in less than an hour, so it's pretty immaterial anyway. So, I shall up my to-do list and then go change from yesterday's jeans and t-shirt to today's work gear and eat and stuff.

(I've almost finished Brotherhood 2.0 2008. They are so jokes. :D)

Today and/or In General
- work: 5a-1:30p
- bank

- make droopy eyes at the guy at the place I applied to see if I'm even being considered <- delayed or possibly cancelled
- therapy: 4:30p
- shower
- rehearsal: 7p-9p ("Blueberry Hill")

- e-mail
-- Marvelous Mayhem re: returning corset
- FIND A NEW MALE ACTOR
- writing
-- [livejournal.com profile] imaginarybeasts I got an extra week's extension, but I really need to get on that
-- LOTS OF STUFF YOU NEVER WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT MY VAG
-- extra Question for [livejournal.com profile] fandom_grammar
-- [livejournal.com profile] stargate_summer
-- that "Old Friends/Bookends" flopsy [livejournal.com profile] tejas inspired
- misc
-- Otzma reference for A <- I really need to get on this
-- start composing family-friendly version of the Monologues <- delayed until after MMRP
Friday
- work: 7:15a-3:45p
- rehearsal: 5p-7p ("Rescue") and 7p-9p ("First Kiss")

-- dishes again, I'm sure
Saturday

OMG Willy licking the peanut butter off John's face at the end? Almost made me not so furious at my actors.

The Retail Dance? That is my life! (More so than waitresses, because the dance is different when you're not on either side of a register, but I also get the all the Joys of Food Service *barf*.)

Probably because I just finally started watching Brotherhood 2.0, and it's too funny to stop.

I'm so going to regret this tomorrow...

Alright, I guess I might as well acknowledge that it is morning and start making some headway on my to-do list. Fucking sleep schedule, I wasn't able to sleep at all last night, but at least that means I can crash at a sensible time tonight and flip my clock back 'round. Feh.

Alright, it's about nine. I think the Imaginary Roommate is gone for the day, so I can put up a load of laundry (the laundry room is through her bedroom). I don't even want to think about how much stuff I have to do today to make up for everything that didn't get done yesterday.

I suspect this will be a spammy day. Be warned!
