melayneseahawk: (plot tribbles)
Collection of things I've been puttering around with and have finally posted.

First, the last five "She" drabbles:

She's a Lady | G | 100 words | complete
Harry Potter, Lily(/James)
I'm Just a Girl | PG | 100 words | complete
Stargate SG-1, Sam(/Jack implied)
This One's Mine | G | 100 words | complete
Eureka, Allison(/Carter implied, /Stark UST)
The Lady in Red | PG | 100 words | complete
Harry Potter, Hermione(/Ron) and Ginny(/Harry)
Hard to Concentrate | G | 100 words | complete
Babylon 5, Delenn(/Sheridan)

Also, the last [livejournal.com profile] imaginarybeasts issue went live, with one of my stories in it, accompanied by some lovely art.

Shoshana Finklestein and the Hanukkah Miracle | G | 2091 words | complete

Had an otherwise productive day, too, so that's nice also.
melayneseahawk: (cursor)
These did get finished on 31st October, so I'm counting them toward the Project. I've just been crazy/busy all week, so they've only been posted in the last few days.

First, the last few [livejournal.com profile] blanketforts:

Here Comes the Sun | Day 29 | G | 157 words
Alone | Day 30 | PG | 107 words
Beginning | Day 31 | PG | 584 words

I knew I could finish these.

And another one of the "She" drabbles:

Man, I Feel Like a Woman | G | 100 words | complete
Firefly, Kaylee

Didn't accomplish as much as I'd wanted to, but it's definitely better than nothing. Also, if anyone knows any comms I could share these in, do let me know.

Fic Dump!

Thursday, 29 October 2009 21:43
melayneseahawk: (plot tribbles)
Two sets of ficlets here, from an assortment of fandoms:

The first two are from [livejournal.com profile] blanketforts prompts, from way back in January 2006. I've only got three more to go; I'm optimistic I can finish them off:

Frozen | Day 27 | G | 176 words
Literary | Day 28 | G | 202 words

The rest are linked at the top of each post.

The second set is from a project I started a year and a half ago. I was writing a piece of original fiction, and I was concerned that I'd forgotten how to write female characters (what with all the slash I write... :P). So, I sat down to write ten drabbles, inspired by songs from the Vagina Monologues cast music list from that year. I finished four over the next month or so and then stalled out completely. Here are the ones I've finished so far:

Raspberry Swirl | G | 100 words | complete
Stargate SG-1, Vala(/Daniel)
Both Hands | G | 100 words | complete
Stargate SG-1, Sha're(/Daniel)
Perfect | G | 100 words | complete
Firefly/Serenity, Inara
This Girl is Taking Bets | G | 100 words | complete
Doctor Who, Rose(/Ten)

Yes, I wrote het. Yes, I wrote Daniel/Vala. I'm a pod person.

Actually, I've got some serious meta brewing about the way I see het. Expect that sometime this weekend.

melayneseahawk: (homework)
Slept all day, literally. And then woke up to the mother of all headaches (still debating if it was a mild migraine, the jury is out). Did laundry. Ate cheese biscuits. Played WoW until I ran out of RAM or something and the thing got all wonky and slow while it caught up with me. And wrote more [livejournal.com profile] blanketforts fic. I'm really hoping that I can write [livejournal.com profile] picfor1000 tomorrow between doing homework.

(Cold | Day 26 | G | 336 words)

Tomorrow I have more laundry, an essay for THET112, notes for CLAS170, writing. I might also devote some more time to organizing the music collection (Mum and Da decided to give me the ipod Shuffle early, so I need to load it up) and paint my nails. But only if I get up at a sensible time. *facepalm*

I have my first GYN appointment on Valentine's Day. I am amused by this.

Oh, and FYI, there's more [livejournal.com profile] blanketforts fic:

(Floors | Day 25 | G | 507 words)

It's not homework, [livejournal.com profile] picfor1000, or something Stargate, but it's fic!

[livejournal.com profile] blanketforts (completing last year's)

previous fic; all pieces stand alone

(Stripped of All One's Torments | Day 23 | G | 120 words)

(There Is No Foot | Day 24 | G | 120 words)

Feedback is better than chocolate.

Sang Taps yesterday morning in honor of my not!birkies, who have bit the dust after five years of exemplary service. They've been replaced, though, by a new pair of real Birkenstocks, which I wore out to the movies with Mum today. They're much nicer than the LL Bean knock-offs; they have arch support, for God's sake.

Speaking of movies, saw The Devil Wears Prada with Mum. spoilers ) In short, awesome movie. Go see it. Anyone who's planning on a career where selling your soul to the Devil is a possibility will enjoy it.

Finally got the Key to Atlantis fic updated to the (brand spanking new) website. I'll possibly be pimping it around, but if you're interested in a link, do let me know. Note: m/m sex and (pseudo-)slavery are involved; be ye warned. In other writing news, the femmeslash fic of d00m is almost done, but I'm having trouble deciding how to end it, and I like it too much to just slap something on. [livejournal.com profile] kashmir_ki_kali and [livejournal.com profile] superboner have been a great help, as usual, and I'm hoping to finish it soon so I can go back and edit things.

Now, since I'm talking about writing, a writing meme (second of a few). )

Oh, and utterly irrelevant, but most be noted. Repeat after me: Old English = Beowulf, Middle English = Chaucer, Early Modern = Shakespeare, Modern = now. Get it? Got it. Good.

Played Munchkin (roleplaying card game of awesome!, must play when people are back in town) with the family, which was only fun until my brother decided to be a pest because we insisted on following the rules. Silly child, that one. Da won, because his last monster was so easy we couldn't make it too hard for him to beat (and Mum wouldn't help us make the monster stronger because she wanted to go to bed), but I came in a close second.

Working the booth yesterday was amusing, if a bit boring at times. I actually know enough about the library and the services they offer to be able to talk to people, so I was able to hold down the fort while Da took a look around (most of the other booths were publishers, so they were showing all the shiny new books they're printing) and had lunch. We probably drummed up two new speakers for the library, too, so it was a good day.

Here follows [livejournal.com profile] wellymuck notes; feel free to ignore. I just want to put them down somewhere before I forget and before I have to go to bed. Don't Mind Me. I Probably Won't Make Sense to You, Anyway. )

Forgot earlier to mention the dream I had last night. Was travelling through the Stargate (but not with SG-1, amusingly enough) and gated to a planet that just seemed to have miles and miles of fields of tulips in all different shades of red, orange, and yellow. So my team and I walk through these things for hours until we reach this big old house. We go inside, and there's an antique auction going on. Then I started to wake up, so it went all wiggly. I think the tulip fields are going to show up in a fic, though.

I just spent the last few hours designing costumes for the Le Palais Halloween costume ball. My best so far is definitely the pair going as Adam and Eve, wearing only skin-toned loincloth-y things and a lot of paint (you'd be surprised how hard it is to find painted male nudes). I really wish I could draw; I'd love to be able to sketch this all out, but I can barely do a stick figure. Ah well, we can't do everything.

It would be easier to take if the things I can do would work. I have two good plots to work with at the moment, plus a bunch of bits I can work with, but none of them want to move at the moment. So, a few writing-themed memes, in the hope of kicking the block.
