So, in case you didn't hear, an "organization" called Warriors for Innocence (not linking since they trace the links back and visiting the site can install spyware) has started a witchhunt on Livejournal, targeting people who have derivatives of incest and pedophilia in their interests. Now, they're not just targeting predators: they're also targeting support groups for victims and fan writers and artists. It doesn't matter if the above are addressed in a negative light, they're still being targeted.

Apparently the LJ support people are suspending journals to protect their owners, but this has lead to a flurry of journal locking, interest list clearing, and panic. I think it's ridiculous.

fandom_counts is trying to get a tally of people who consider themselves to be in fandom, any fandom. Join it, it's got no content, it's just numbers.

I will not be locking this place down, or writers_island, because I think I'm safe. Even my gay sex is so vanilla as to be boring (but maybe the homophobia and suicide fic pair will wait until this has cooled down), even with the genderbending I get up to in my spare time. I don't think I'm important enough to fandom that anyone's going to take notice of little old me, but the rest of you fannish types be careful. These people are vigilantes at best, so just be smart.

(Yes, there is RL stuff I should be talking about, but I don't want to right now.)

And yeah, I think the whole thing is just absolutely ridiculous.
