this is the winter of our discontent

It's strange. I don't prefer one season over another, but I have a bit of seasonal depression that's worst in winter due to the lack of sunlight, so winter always makes me moody and depressed. So, one would think that my [livejournal.com profile] blanketforts would reflect that, since it's winter-themed, and R/S is such an angsty ship anyway. Surprisingly, though, my first four fic haven't been. They're not fluffy, or sugary-sweet, but they're not sad, angsty bits of twisted wire fic. Hmm.

On the topic of fic and writing, am also doing [livejournal.com profile] slash_100 for Daniel Jackson from Stargate SG-1 and a ship from Star Wars (and no, Humza, it's not Han/Luke; heaven forbid). Am working on the first DJ ones, a five-part fic that is all nice and organized in my brain but will not put itself on the page. *headdesk* And tomorrow they send out the assignments for [livejournal.com profile] picfor1000, a photo-based challenge, tomorrow. Ooh, why do I do this to myself again?

On an up side, I figured out what to do with that play bit that was sitting on my hard drive.

For all those Grammar Nazis out there, The Big Honking List of Homonyms. Very useful reference, and you can obviously ignore the BtVS twist to most of the example sentences.

But see, the thing is that pretty much any slash is doing something as hideous as that. Respect the creator's characterization of his/her creations! If they wanted character A to have sex with character B, they would presumably tell you so!

(Just to clarify, this isn't a rant directed at you - just at the concept of slash in general.)

Oh, I don't know. I, personally, only slash things that seem, to me, to have actual evidence. Subtextually. I don't slash characters that hate each other or anything like that.

I'm thinking we're going to have to agree to disagree on this one.

Fair enough.
