A Brigde Too Far
Monday, 14 June 2004 17:40Watched A Bridge Too Far yesterday. Great WWII flick, specifically about an Allied plan after D Day to take a bunch of bridges in Holland, the last of which was in Arnhem and crossed the Rhine into Germany. This movie is a beautiful example of a war movie, since it a) is based on true events, b) shows how people really fought, and c) doesn't try to glorify war. Even better, every famous male actor that was working at the time the movie was made is in it (i.e. Sean Connery, Michael Caine, Lawrence Olivier, Robert Redford, Anthony Hopkins, etc.). And there's a serious anti-war message that goes with all of this, so it doesn't make my pacifist side scream. It's a very good film, I recommend it.
