So, all my clothes got unpacked yesterday, and today I'm moving on to the fun stuff: the six black plastic milk crates that made up my bookshelf (stacked with the openings out and tied with twine, an old sleepaway camp trick). For your amusement, I shall list off the contents of each crate, working my way down through the layers. I'll keep a running list and update this post after each crate is unpacked.

Dear weather, make up your mind what season it is. I don't actually care which you pick, but mid-fall one week and high summer the next is all kinds of not cool.

So I think I make my ASTR TA uncomfortable. He's obviously an Orthodox Jew, and the first discussion I was wearing one of the lesbian t-shirts and then today I look kind of proto-goth (nails are still painting black from Monday, and I'm all in black and red, clothing-wise). I missed the two discussion sections in between, so I actually had to talk to him after class today, and he blatantly didn't look at me the whole time. Is it bad that I'm amused? Yeah, I know, I'm going to hell.

I'm not going to rant about C and the boyfriend (sounds like the name of a band: C and the Boyfriends :P), it just makes me too angry. She's a wonderful girl, why is she dating this bastard? (starkravingsane, you can't keep him anymore, he's a violent, manipulative dick). He had her in tears for hours last night, and had threatened to hurt his family and himself if she broke up with him. I want to help, but I have no idea what to do.

Yeah, so I'm camping out in the Art Library tonight in the hope I can gather enough images for the design project due 3:30 tomorrow. It's going to be pretty interesting. As in "Oh god, oh god, we're all gonna die".

Dear University, it is not cool to have jackhammers going at 7a. So not on. Especially on a day like today, which might as well be a weekend. I wanted that sleep, thank you very much!

Walked a few of my classes today, since I've never been in any of the science buildings before. But my map was crap, so I walked all over the southern end of campus, where the science and math buildings tend to be, to find them. And since it's humid as fuck (pun intended), I'm a bit melted at the moment.

The other amusement of the day was David Kriebs, aka my mentor, aka God, before the majors' meeting, telling me that if I get to the middle of the semester and start going into show withdrawal, he'd let me tech an Off-Center (the non-departmental student-run productions), "but nothing more!" I love this man, he's absolutely my enabler.

Didn't need the ER trip, thankfully, but the surgeon poked at my mouth until he managed the shake loose what turned out to be a small splinter of my upper jaw. Phoo. Back of mouth feels like raw meat, but at least it hurts less than it did this morning, and it should be back to my current level of non-use by the morning. :D

That aside, I really would recommend this oral surgeon to people. I think most of you folks have had yours done already, but if anyone needs the name of a good oral surgeon in the DC area, let me know.

The meetings to convince the theatre department to let me retake THET112 begin tomorrow, wherein I grovel to anyone who'll listen. If I can't retake it, I won't be able to major in theatre, which would be...bad. Wish me luck. *whimpers*

Feel like today's going to be a spammy day, since I have a couple other things I've been meaning to post (This Was My Day, various and sundry Frankenmixes, my thoughts on HP7 and the HP5 movie, etc.), but for now I will end with a pair of fannish links:

copperbadge, who I adore, wrote The Day the Music Died (and I Got Farked), a piece of metafandom fiction based on the ending of the canon of a fictional fandom based on HP, among other things. It's really amusing, especially if you're active in just about any online fandom, and resonates even if you've never gone through the ending of a canon (my tally is four and counting). Not based on HP7 itself, no spoilers for the book, really worth the read if you're a Fan, even if you're not an HP fan.

Damn, I am so fucked. All I've managed to do is sort out all the books I can't use (I managed to bring three copies of the same book back from the various libraries). I thought I'd picked a topic, but I'm not sure it's something I'll actually be able to write. Damn sources and their utter lack of chronological order or history.

Research paper ("why Oklahoma!?") completed and e-mailed to prof.

So now I have *checks watch* 14 hours to research and write a 5-7 manifesto of Kabuki theatre. I have a huge pile of sources on my floor, but I don't know whether I'm going to do a survey of the whole history or just focus on one period. I'm also not sure what the format of said manifesto is supposed to be, and won't know until the prof gets my e-mail in the morning. I'm so doomed.

I feel like I'm stalling out just short of the finish line.

CLAS170 exam went rather poorly. It seems I know this stuff but I test badly on it. I really don't want to have to take this class again...

THET112 performance was odd. Since the purpose of the project is the process, not the success of the final product, we'll prolly get a good grade. That being said, as a product-oriented person, I just want to cry. :(

THET113 exam today went rather well, I think. Casey also gave us two opportunities to get bonus points, so of course I went for them. One of them consisted of a spare essay, and the other basically boiled down to spelling gesamptkunstwerk correctly (don't ask). I'd love to be able to pull an A in that class.

Casey also gave me an extension on the papers, until close of business tomorrow. starkravingsane thinks I can get it all done, but I'm not convinced.

So close, and yet so far.

Banquet on Friday Thursday was a waste of time and money. It was supposed to start at 7:30, but no one really showed up until almost 8:30, and they hadn't started the actual speech part by the time I gave up and left at 9:30. The only amusing bit was my thoughts as I left: "I Naired my legs for this?"

I've finished the bibliography, but I've gotten nothing else done. Why am I so terrible at motivating myself to work? I'm now almost two days behind on my schedule; I'm not sure I'll be able to catch up even if I don't sleep the rest of the weekend. *headdesk* I suck at this whole school thing.

I just spent almost half an hour arguing about existentialism and absurdism with my prof after class. All in all, a good way to end the semester. Now I just have to get the damned exams/papers over and done with and I'm free.

I have to say, though: absurdism makes me dizzy.
