I'm yet again presented with proof that christianity is very confused.

Specifically, I refer to a predecessor to the play called Quem Quaeritis? It's this short, four-line sung dramatisation of when the "three Marys" went to Christ's tomb on Easter morning, and found that he had risen. I read this in the textbook, but couldn't think of who the Marys were; I mean, Mary Magdelene, of course, and Mary his mum, but there's no third mary. Asked Da (who went to a Jesuit college, and knows more about Christianity than most of my Christian friends), and he had no idea, so I went to look it up and found this:

The four gospels are in agreement that Mary Magdalene, the prostitute who Jesus reformed, was a visitor at the grave, but they disagree about the rest. Matthew has her accompanied by Mary the mother of James, Mark agrees but adds one "Salome," Luke agrees about the two Marys but adds Joanna, and John says only Mary Magdalene was there. After nearly ten centuries, the faithful had merged these accounts into a popular belief that there were simply "three Marys."

And so I am forced to observe that Christians know nothing about their own religion. QED and all that.

Ok, back to work.

It was my understanding that it was Mary Mag, her sister Mary, and Jesus' Mother Mary...

Hey!

Never asked me and I knew that! And to add to oh-the-woes of the Christian confusion, Mary Magdalene was likely not a prostitute!
