Clubbing with [livejournal.com profile] starkravingsane did pull together in the end, but it was surreal. Apex switched the Saturday night lineup only two weeks ago, from dyke night to drag night. Appreciate the irony for a mo. It was too crowded to dance, with the stage set up for the "comedian" who was running the drag show, and even after that finished up at 2 or so it was just too crowded so we went back to her place (we actually left at 2:30 or so EST, because they wouldn't let us out of the club for a bit, seemed like someone was trying to get in that shouldn't have been there). We watched half of an Eddie Izzard show and then went to bed since we were both falling asleep. We went to the Tombs for brunch, wandered around Gtown, and then went back to her apartment to watch more Eddie Izzard before she dropped me at the Metro to go to work. The company was lovely, but the night was a bit of a disappointment. We're going to have to go looking for another club.

Today, I finally got tired of waiting and tricked the red army into invading by sitting around in nothing but my robe after getting out of the shower. This means I'll be mostly done with such things by the time I start the trip. Score!

Work isn't even worth talking about. I want to murder my boss.

"Danse Macabre" is almost done, but I'm suffering from an AWOL muse at the mo. I know exactly what to write, and basically how to do it, but I just can't concentrate. I really want to finish it tonight and e-mail it to [livejournal.com profile] kashmir_ki_kali before I go to bed, especially since Mum's got me cleaning everything tomorrow before the brat's party, but I can't focus. I think I'll do another round of Sudoku and then do a writing hour with the mix CD on. Then, on the other hand, I might just go to sleep.

That'll give me tomorrow to recuperate, and then NaNoWriMo starts on Wednesday. I forsee not finishing this year, even with my head-start of last year's 2500 words, because I'm losing a whole week to the trip; sure, I can write on the bus, but that's only three days, and the other five will be full of doing stuff. We'll see how it goes.

And now, since I'm talking about writing, a meme:

Keyboard or biro?
I tend to write, or at least start, rough drafts on paper, and then type them up. I edit the material on the screen, and then print it out to look for typos/grammar issues/etc. Then I make the changes to the file.

Beta or no beta?
I tend to bounce ideas off of people, especially [livejournal.com profile] kashmir_ki_kali, but she doesn't beta for me, per se. I tend to just look over fanfic on my own, since I trust my own grammar and syntax, but I get paranoid about whether plots and things work outside my head, especially for original fic. Lots of people on my AIM list get attacked at obscene hours with the request "Can you look at this for me?"

Plot?
I like to call them that, yes.

But seriously, even my drabbles have mini-plots to them. And my porn is always plot-driven (except maybe for that series of NC-17 sensory drabbles for [livejournal.com profile] stagesoflove (1 2 3 4 5)

Title?
Usually I at least come up with the plot, or even write the whole story, before sticking it with a title. They come from song lyrics sometimes, Latin proverbs sometimes, [livejournal.com profile] kashmir_ki_kali, or the aether in my head.

Smushy or smutty?
Smutty. I can be fluffy sometimes, sugary sweet sometimes, but I try not to be smushy (only because it would be totally OOC for my kinds of characters).

Summary?
Wazzat? Heh. I usually quote the fic itself, usually the first line or so, for that kind of thing. When describing them to people, I usually go with my file name, actually ("the laryngitis fic that became 'In His Kiss'", "the homophobia fic", etc). I don't like writing summaries.

Funniest fic?
I don't usually write humor, per se, but I almost always have funny moments. I think the funniest thing recently was She Blinded Me With Science, but maybe I'm the only one who found it funny.

Most popular fic?
Showers, the fic that started my first run of [livejournal.com profile] stagesoflove. This one is definitely the best bit of UST I've ever written.

Most fun to write?
Can't See the Sense in Crying was oddly fun, as were the sex drabbles. Pedestal was fun, too, because I go to really get inside [livejournal.com profile] kashmir_ki_kali's head to do it.

Best?
Where I'll Be at the End/I'll Follow You Into the Dark - dark, dark, dark, but oh so good, IMHO
Can't See the Sense in Crying - I really love Sebastian; I'm planning on writing more with him
She Blinded Me With Science - more awesome characters
Five Reasons Why They Never Got Together (1 2 3 4 5) - I really like the way this came out
Danse Macabre is on this list, too, even though it's not done yet

Worst?
Sixteen, hands down. I lost my funny writing this, I really did.

Coulda been Contenders?
Summer Rain never quite worked outside my head, but I still like it. The Wellymuck fic would have been good, I think, if I'd ever finished it.

Strengths?
sensory description, smut (sometimes)

Weaknesses?
deadlines, endings, transitions

Dirty Little Secrets?
I love writing smut, but it's so damn hard. That's about it.

Dude, am really craving chocolate-covered pretzels right now.

If you ever come to Pittsburgh the gay club "Pegasus" is a must for anyone. I have yet to go but the stories and pics of my friends tell the fun tale.

The night I went to Pegasus, they had a drag show and a (male) stripper.
