Tea!

Mum decided to treat the invalid, so she took me out to the Retro Tea Room for high tea. (Little-known fact: one of the defining moments of my childhood was going to the Crooked Tea House in Windsor, UK, and having high tea for the first time with my folks.) Mum had black tea flavoured with blackberry and sage and I had a strawberry kiwi fruit tisane (herbal), with crustless sandwiches (cucumber, date and walnut, tuna, etc), scones with lemon curd and Devonshire clotted cream, fruit tarts, digestive biscuits (plain cookie, good with lemon curd), and a cookie assortment. And we wore hats! It was lots of fun; I felt like a six-year-old playing dress up, but in a good way.

Got a bit of a hair cut, too. Just got the split ends trimmed, but even with that the whole mess goes down to my waist now. When did that happen?

Also, to the editors of my theatrical anthology and the external reading I'm doing: it is not cute to take a text written in Old or Middle English and only modernise bits of it and leave the rest with the original crackpot spelling and vernacular. Yes, you're all affected and shit, but, ywis, noonee likes ain afecteed persone. Feh.

Randomness:

Did a Colorgenics profile. Is creepy when these things get it right: )

Is worth doing if you're bored.

Also, for you educationally-minded folks, go sign the Million Voices, One Right petition for a higher quality of education in US public schools. Five minutes to sign, and it's a damn good cause.

(and I apologise for the smattering of British English spellings; I get like that when I've had too much tea)
