News from the Goth Palace
Thursday, 10 August 2006 23:11I don't know whether to laugh or cry, I really don't. I wandered into the Goth Palace yesterday before work (I was running early) to pick myself up a Pride wristband, and then manager recognised me and asked me to come in again for another interview, this one with the District Manager. I'm to call on Monday to get an appointment, prolly for Wednesday. I agreed on the spot, of course, but now I don't know what to do.
On the one hand, working at the Goth Palace would be awesome. Much more anarchic than the Yuppie Temple, I'd get to wear whatever I wanted to work, plus there's a 40% sales associate discount, which would go a long way to helping put some interesting things in my wardrobe. On the other, pay is just over minimum wage, they seem to be horribly disorganised, and scheduling would be hell (this would be the case just about anywhere, though). True, I'd be able to work mostly openings at the GP, which would mesh well with mostly closing at the YT, but 9a-1p at the former and 2p-10p at the latter would be hellish. On the other hand, it's not all that likely that I'd be working both jobs every day I worked; with only four or so shifts a week at each, someone else can do the math to tell me the chances that I'd be working at both places all four days. I don't know much about the music that GP claims to be "all about", but that didn't seem to be a problem in the first interview, and I really doubt it's actually much of an issue, especially at that particular store. Basically, I know I'm going to interview, but I don't know what to do if they offer me a job. Thoughts?
And a meme, because I'm bored stupid:
There's a bunch of fic-based memes around. How did you pick the title, why did you start with that first line, what happens after the story ends, etc. If you like, pick a story of mine and ask me any two of those questions, from the ones I just listed or any others you can think of.
