So, not only did I have a doctor's appointment today, and not only did I have blood drawn, but Mum is mad at me because she seems to see dirt where this is none.

And not only that, but my laptop is refusing to start (Mum has since kidnapped the laptop, as she is wont to do when she gets angry, but the point is moot). What did I do to deserve that? I don't know when she's going to give it back, and I obviously can't fix it until she does. Arg.

On the upside, I have less than a week until I'm done with work and a little more than two before I move back into the dorm. Also, [livejournal.com profile] starkravingsane is a goddess. But that's something else entirely.

It crashed, so I turned it off, and then turned it back on. But it kept running the loading stuff and the pausing and doing it all again. I didn't have time before I left for work to deal with it, and then Mum took it so I couldn't mess with it now.

I'm afraid I've killed it.

When that happened with my lap last year, it turned out the video card was busted. That might not be the case, but in case it is, if it's still acting funky when you get it back, I would recommend investing in an external hard drive, if you don't already have one. Try starting it again. Before it starts loading windows (so when the boot animation starts up), try pressing F2 and going into safe mode. Back up your documents, etc. on the hard drive (just drag and drop), then play around with the lap in safe mode.
I hope the video card or something equally important isn't messed up. When mine was, I had to send in my comp to Sony and get a new motherboard - they also tossed in a new hard drive and keyboard, for reasons of which I am not entirely sure. Which is why I was *really* glad to have all my docs on another hard drive.
G'luck, darlin'.

I already have an external hard drive, so I'll do that. Thanks, hon!
