We went wandering around the A.C. Moore last night, which was much fun. I got myself 6 skeins of embroidery floss (purple, two different shades of turquoise, light green, and two different blue-greens), tapestry needles (6, which will last me two years), leather cord (for this celtic charm a friend got me), hemp cord (100 g! in the good, thin diametre), and black elastic thread (so I can restring my Sydney hematite beads), all for under $10. I love craft stores!

Worked on my Extended Essay today. I've finished all the annotations for my bibliography. Exactly 40 sources, multiple hundreds of index cards (haven't taken the time to count; can you beat that, Stephen?). It is currently longer than my rather holey paper. I will begin to fill in the gaps soon, since I'm all but done with the research finally. . .

I've given up on reading the "suggested reading list" books (not enough hours in the day, or days in the two weeks until college-visit mania), so here is an updated to-do list:
1. Work on Osprey, i.e. at least start (if not finish) the rewrite
2. Read all the many books for school, i.e. Long Fuse, Madame Bovary, Death in Venice, To the Lighthouse, A Farewell to Arms, and Rozencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, because I will not let them ruin Stoppard for me
3. Get a job Thank you, Shagun.
4. Work on the rest of my writing, i.e. finish SOMETHING! Thank you again, Shagun.
5. The evil math packet, i.e. remove my small intestine with a straw and then eat it (can you tell I don't like math?)
6. fix my doorknob, i.e. take a screwdriver to it's ass
7. college visits planned

And I have found yet another reason to be called wench. Feel free to ask why.

Impromptu Yiddish Lesson, to describe a member of the lunch group. I bet you all can guess who this is. Willa, m'love, this is for your amusement:

kokhlefel - a busybody; lit. "souphandle", someone who stirs up trouble
yenta - a busybody
farshtinkener - a selfish and insecure person; lit. "a stinker"
makhashaifeh - a witch; a mean woman
nukhshlepper - an unwanted hanger-on; a tag-along
klipeh - a shrew; a she-devil

and, best of all:

yakhneh - a meddling, loudmouthed, uncouth woman

A Rent moment, while the Egyptian ice queen waits for the werewolf to get the condoms:

excerpts from "La Vie Bohème":

Dearly beloved we gather here to say our goodbyes
Here she lies
No one knew her worth
The late great daughter of mother earth
On this night when we celebrate the birth
In that little town of Bethlehem
We raise our glass - you bet your ass - to
La vie Boheme

La vie Boheme
La vie Boheme
La vie Boheme
La vie Boheme

To days of inspiration
Playing hookie, making something out of nothing
The need to express
To communicate,
To going against the grain,
Going insane
Going mad

To loving tension, no pension
To more than one dimension,
To starving for attention,
Hating convention, hating pretension
Not to mention of course,
Hating dear old mom and dad

To riding your bike,
Midday past the three- piece suits
To fruits to no absolutes
To Absolut- to choice
To the Village Voice
To any passing fad
To being an us - for once - instead of a them
La vie Boheme
La vie Boheme
~ ~ ~
To hand-crafted beers made in local breweries
To yoga, to yogurt, to rice and beans and cheese
To leather, to dildos, to curry vindaloo
To huevos rancheros and Maya Angelou

Emotion, devotion, to causing a commotion
Creation, vacation
Mucho masturbation

Compassion, to fashion, to passion when it's new
To Sontag
To Sondheim
To anything taboo
Ginsberg, Dylan, Cunningham and Cage
Lenny Bruce
Langston Hughes
To the stage
To Uta
To Buddha
Pablo Neruda, too
Why Dorothy and Toto went over the rainbow
To blow off Auntie Em
La vie Boheme
~ ~ ~
Bisexuals, trisexuals, homo sapiens,
Carcinogens, hallucinogens, men, Pee Wee Herman
German wine, turpentine, Gertrude Stein
Antonioni, Bertolucci, Kurosawa
Carmina Burana

To apathy, to entropy, to empathy, ecstasy
Vaclav Havel - The Sex Pistols, 8BC,
To no shame - never playing the Fame Game
To marijuana
To sodomy,
It's between God and me
To S & M
La vie Boheme

In honor of the death of Bohemia an impromptu salon will commence
immediately following dinner

Mimi Marquez, clad only in bubble wrap, will perform her famous lawn
chair-handcuff dance to the sounds of iced tea being stirred

Mark Cohen will preview his new documentary about his inability to hold an
erection on high holy days

Maureen Johnson, back from her spectacular one-night engagement at the
eleventh street lot,
Will sing native american tribal chants backwards through her vocoder,
While accompanying herself on the electric cello
Which she has never studied
~ ~ ~
Roger will attempt to write a bittersweet, evocative song
That doesn't remind us of "Musetta's Waltz"

Angel Dumott Schunard will now model the latest fall fashions from Paris
While accompanying herself on the 10 gallon plastic pickle tub

And Collins will recount his exploits as an anarchist
Including the successful reprogramming of the M.I.T. virtual reality equipment
To self-destruct, as it broadcast the words:
"Actual reality -- Act Up -- Fight AIDS"
~ ~ ~
To dance!
No way to make a living, masochism, pain, perfection,
Muscle spasms, chiropractors, short careers, eating disorders.

Film!
Adventure, tedium, no family, boring locations,
Darkrooms, perfect faces, ego, money, Hollywood, and sleaze.

Music!
Food of love, emotion, mathematics, isolation, rhythm,
Power, feeling, harmony, and heavy competition.

Anarchy!
Revolution, justice, screaming for solutions,
Forcing changes, risk and danger, making noise and making pleas.

To faggots, lezzies, dykes, cross-dressers, too.
To me, to me, to me
To you, and you and you, you and you,
To people living with, living with, living with,
Not dying from disease.
Le he among us with out sin be the first to comdemn
La vie Boheme
La vie Boheme
La vie Boheme
La vie Boheme

Anyone out of the mainstream?
Is anyone in the mainstream?
Anyone alive - with a sex drive,
Tear down the wall;
Aren't we all?
The opposite of war isn't peace...
It's creation.
La vie Boheme

Viva la vie Boheme.

Wow, that took a while to type.
