I'm sure I'm doing this wrong.

I have an iPod Classic, right? Birthday present from 'rents? Yes, mildly familiar, I know.

I'm trying to add video to it. Now, the video I have is all .avi format, because until very recently I had no reason to run my video through iTunes. But now I do, and I can't figure out how to convert it to .mp4.

iTunes doesn't seem to want to do it.

All the programs I'm finding through Google either cost money (and a lot, some of them), and the free trials only convert the first 5 minutes/add a nasty watermark/etc.

Really, I'm sure I'm doing this wrong. My parents can't have spent this much money to buy me something I can't even use.

Help?

ETA Fuck, I don't have time to mess with this right now. I hate technology. Hate. Hate. Hate.

It shouldn't actually be deleting it, just removing it from the list. It should still be in the folder you left it in, safe and sound, if you look at it outside of the program.

I just checked, and it's not. And it's not sitting in the Recycling Bin, either. I don't know where it went!

...I have no idea what happened. It's never done that to me. It removes it from the list, and if I cancel the action before it's done, I can't move or change the file until after I've rebooted, but it's never deleted it on me. D:

I have no idea. And I don't have time for this. I was hoping to load some video onto the iPod so I could hide from the family on this car trip. I don't have the energy to fuck with this right now.
