Break = No Work (You Would Think)

melayneseahawkSo I heard a song yesterday about a man with a haunted guitar. He was forced by the spirit that inhabited the guitar to play for forever and never stop. A little spooky. And, of course, the guitar work was amazing.
Why do teachers insist on giving work over break? Breaks are for exactly that: a break from all school work of any kind. That means no math problems, no science labs, and NO ENGLISH JOURNALS! Sadly, the teachers don't get the point and insist on assigning lots of work: half a dozen math problems (which I haven't done yet), two science packets (of which I have done one), and four english journals (of which I have done two, but only because Mom is forcing me to). All this work is going to hang over me when I'm in NYC and are keeping me from doing any fun stuff before we leave. Stephen, if you still want me to write an opinion piece for the Tide, I could write about that.
