melayneseahawk: (history)

Week before last, I took my first test of the semester, for American History (post-Civil War). Finally got them back yesterday, and not only did I get a 95% on the overall test, I got the highest possible score on the essay section. Reassuring, since I'd been worried that I'd written too much.

Though, one of my answers was so good the prof decided to use it as an example of the Perfect Answer. I'm peeved, because he just photocopied the sheet right out of my test packet, so it was in my handwriting. So much for doing things anonymously.

Is it unreasonable for me to be pissy about it? My insecurities, let me show you them.

In completely unrelated news, I've decided I like the current layout, though if anyone knows if there's a way to fix the blank space on the sides, I'd love to know.

Mostly, I just like the fact that the birds flying over the water are curly brackets. :D

Here, have a layout meme:

1. My username is _____ because ____.

[livejournal.com profile] melayneseahawk is the name I go by online, long before LJ. The first name was actually the name of my first D&D character; the funny spelling is stolen from some book I read in elementary school that made absolutely no impression on me beside the odd spelling of the heroine's name. (There might have been dragons...) The last name is based on the hero of novel I started some 15 years ago and never finished. Yes, I named myself after one of my characters, rather than the other way around. :P

2. My journal is titled ____ because ____.

3. My subtitle is ____ because ____.]

4. My friends page is called ____ because ____.

"highrise living for a joke like me", "there's nothing like the freedom of a place where no one listens", and "tell me all your dreams" are all from a Thea Gilmore song, "Down to Nowhere". My "name" fluctuates, but it's currently "a vaudeville comedian in a theatre of bones", which also comes from this song. I just like the phrasing, and I though the color scheme of this layout matches the dark comedy of the song.

The mood and music identifiers are currently set as "poetry and prozac" and "absinthe and whiskey", which are from "This Girl Is Taking Bets", another Thea Gilmore song.

5. My default userpic is ____ because ____.
I've been using as my default icon since I first started on LJ, when my journal was titled "standing on a darkened stage, stumbling through the lines". The image itself is from the webcomic Sinfest, though I took out the speech bubble. I really love the image for a number of reasons, including its theatrical connotations and the sense of isolation.

Wow, that was depressing.

It's not unreasonable to be bothered about your prof breaching confidentiality. Depending on your schools regulations about student privacy, he may be in violation; even if he's not, it's not unreasonable to tell him that you're uncomfortable about it and ask him to use a typed version instead.

Although, unless your class is pretty close-knit, or your writing is pretty distinctive, probably nobody will recognize it.
