a question for the Buffy fans on my flist
Monday, 7 June 2010 15:08So, I've been devouring watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and I've gotten to the point where Angel spins off. How should I watching the show from here on? Should I alternate episodes? Watch a season of one, and then a season of the other?
Also, is it work trying to get my hands on any of the comic books once I finish the shows?
Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

7/6/10 22:22 (UTC)This, to me, is the "right" way to watch them (but I did watch them live). Also, I actually really, really like Angel. (A better constructed show than Buffy after the first season, and the third season of Angel is hands-down my favorite season of Jossverse ever.)
Actually, if you're not crazy like me, this is the crossover formula:
There are 3 sets of crossover episodes during the first season of Angel. These are "The Harsh Light of Day" (Buffy) and "In the Dark" (Angel), and then "Who Are You" (Buffy) sets up "Five By Five" (Angel) and "Sanctuary" (Angel) then sets up "The Yoko Factor" (Buffy).
After that there isn't much crossover except the end of Buffy Season 5 events are relayed on Angel, and then things probably make more sense in Season 7 of Buffy if you follow this crossover formula: Season 4 episodes of Angel "Calvary" and "Salvage" set up the end of the Buffy series starting with the episode "Dirty Girls."
Hi, I'm obsessed, we all know this.
Also, the comics are totally worth it. Dark Horse is really good about released trades so while you might not be able to get your hands on the individual issues, you shouldn't have any trouble buying TBP. DH always has a big Buffy display at D*C, so I bet they'll have at least the last 3 trades on hand. (The trades tend to be about 5 issues long and the comic is in the 30s. I think through issue 20 has been republished in TBP-form.)
