Crucible rehearsals are awesome. I'll never sleep again, but I'll have learned so much before I pass out from exhaustion. Not only am I learning the ins and outs of stage managing by actually doing it (or, as the case may be, bumbling along until I bump into the right thing to do), but I'm also learning some acting-related things. I've been absorbing all of the acting-related advice the director gives out, and he's actually asked me about their characterisation progress. Is very spiffy.

Though I'm still not looking forward to spending hours taping out the floor diagram tonight.

LJ subject from The Crucible, of course.

Ah, rehearsals, how I have missed you. More when I'm more awake, but I must say it's hard to be on the other side of the table in rehearsals. Learning all the fun tricks of the trade, though.

For anyone who cares, the answers to the lyric meme are up. The lyrics struck out are the ones people guessed correctly.

Classes start tomorrow, and I have ANTH260 lecture and sitting in on DANC128 in the hope of convincing the prof to let me in off the waitlist. Urk, not fun.

And it doesn't involve car insurance...

The University of Maryland, College Park has a policy called Freshman Forgiveness. Basically, it means that if one fails a course in hir first two semesters, it can be retaken at a later date and the F scratched from the GPA (though it stays on the transcript). This is, obviously, wonderful news. My advisor and I sat down and looked at it, and the plan is to retake THET112 in the fall (which will require juggling the Four Year Plan, oh noes!) and ANTH240 in spring '07. Hopefully, the ARTH290 prof will give me a make-up exam or a paper to write (he said he would...) and I can bring the grade for that up to a D or even a C. Worst case scenario is I retake ARTH290, too, but I can fit it in senior year somewhere. Now I just need eight people to drop out of DANC128 or leave the waiting list, and I will be in scheduling heaven.

(At this point I must add that I'm still on academic probation, and have to bring up my cumulative GPA to above a 2.0 before next spring, so I didn't get away without any ill-effects, but I think I can do it this semester. Feel like I've learned my lesson, [livejournal.com profile] somayyouall? I wuv you, anyway, even if you give me a hard time. I deserve it.)

(It also must be noted that my advisor suggested that I minor in anthropology, since I'm already taking all three of their fundamentals, and I'm afraid to say that I laughed at him. I explained that there was no way that it would fit, and he laughed at that point, too, but it was bad.)

In other news, the first Crucible rehearsal is this evening at 6p. Therein ends anything resembling a social life between now and mid-March. Whee!

Dancing rehearsals today. We actually had them. -Gasp-

Sylvana (the choreographer) decided to do this show very jazz-styled, which is something I can do. Plus, I even got to help design one of the steps (if you know me and you care, ask me to show you). It was a good thing, because I was able to do all the dance steps in my character shoes, which indicates that I'm slightly more likely to come out of this show in one piece.

As you might have guessed, this makes me happy.
