I have a pot of blood-colored liquid burbling along to itself on the stove, complete with strange noises and odd smells. *gleeful cackle*

(No, it's actually boiling beets, for making beet salad, but just because I'm out of eye of newt doesn't mean I can't pretend.)

Like you doubted this, I know. But seriously. These are the tabs I currently have open in Firefox:

Gmail - main e-mail box
LJ - friendslist
LJ - a piece of Kirk/Spock fanfic
YouTube - Doctor Who cast singing Christmas carols
LJ - Burn Notice download source
wowhead (a World of Warcraft wiki) - Recipe: Transmute Primal Might
Memory Alpha (a Star Trek wiki) - Risa

Yeah, y'all love me.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] jaiwithani bought me a tribble for Christmas. A tribble! Pictures will follow.

I find it really hard to watch Zachary Quinto as Sylar now; I keep seeing Spock. I fail at separating fantasy from reality. :P

Also, I know I'm a few weeks behind, but the end of spoilers for Heroes - 4.17 - The Art of Deception ) *snickers*

Had one of those dreams last night that seems totally absurd upon waking, but still leaves you with phantom fear/embarrassment/etc. Sucks.

Also, a question for any Babylon 5 fans out there. There's an episode where Delenn watches Sheridan sleep, while they're inside a Minbari (or Minbar-Earth hybrid) ship. Anyone remember what episode that is, or at least what season? I need it for a fic.

Thanks!

So, I know there are a few more of you here who joined up or are watching because of Dragon*Con, and I'm sorry I've been so boring recently. It gets better, I promise.

But, while you wait, enjoy the following. It's the official video from the Dragon*Con attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most number of people performing a specific version of the Thriller dance in one place. Final count is 903 people, but they're waiting to hear from Guinness because there were four other attempts right around the same time (it was close to Michael Jackson's birthday). Here's the official video:

Notice the row of Stormtroopers along the back. :D

Oh, Dragon*Con, how much do I love thee? This is totally one of the ways.
melayneseahawk: (shoulders of giants)
Finished The Privilege of the Sword while I was on airplanes this past weekend. Really great until the end, when it felt like the author got bored and skipped a lot of stuff. Also, there weren't enough lesbians. :P

Also, I have discovered that my shrink's answering machine doesn't like messages that are more than 2 minutes long.

Also, I hit level 49 on my mage. And finished questing in Stranglethorn Vale, one of the jungle areas. Now to decide between the Hinterlands (evergreen forest, Dwarf reputation) and Tanaris (desert, Goblin reputation) to quest in next. Hmm, I might do both...

See? Nothing of real consequence.

Dragon*Con!!!

*flails like an idiot*

Bags are mostly packed. Leave for the airport in just over an hour. I'll have minimal computer access while I'm there, but I'll tell you all about it when I get back.

(Also, there will likely be stories of people's responses to me in the airport in The Boots.)

Aaah, so excited!

Act I is done. Completely. Oh my God.

Act II is off to beta, and shouldn't need to much rewriting. Again, oh my God.

Act III is now up to 4000 words (I'm horrendous at deadlines, I know, don't hurt me). The current draft is printed, and I'm bringing it with in the car.

I'm leaving in an hour or so to take the Geekling up to school. Since we have two cars and two drivers, we're driving up today, moving him in, and driving back home tomorrow. If I'm lucky, we'll be back by early afternoon, but I'm probably going to be helping move Mum into her office.

Monday, I start classes (!!!) and then after class I go down to the city to help with the major part of the moving effort. And then when I get home, I get to do [livejournal.com profile] jd_ficathon match-ups!

Work on Tuesday evening, class again on Wednesday, and then Thursday midday I fly out to Atlanta for Dragon*Con. I'm hoping I can fit all my crap into carry-on-able luggage, but you try fitting a pair of knee-high boots, two corsets, Renfest skirt(s) and shirt, laptop, camera with extra lens, and normal clothes into carry-on luggage. I would use a corset icon, but I'm too damned busy.

Oh, I will laugh my ass off if they decide to search my stuff. No, really, I will.

(Don't even get me started on the way they completely buggered my schedule for work. It's not good for my blood pressure.)

And somewhere in the middle of all this, I have to write some 1500 words, edit, and post my [livejournal.com profile] stargate_summer. I'm going to be posting from D*C, I have this feeling.

Managed to complete or otherwise deal with all three things I listed to get done last night, so that's fun. Next week, I get to go to banks to get actual CD rates, and Mum and I have to arrange to get to the Israeli bond office so I can actually get a check for the money from the bond that matured. Wow, moneys, I (sort of) has them.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] tigerlilly2063 has finished playing with the layout for [livejournal.com profile] jd_ficathon. It looks great!

D&D with [livejournal.com profile] allandaros and the crew tonight, which should be fun. I haven't played D&D since high school, and any tabletop RPG since 2007 or so. I'm looking forward to it.

I think I've banged out some of the "this makes no sense" kinks in what of Act II is already drafted. I still have no idea what I'm doing, but at least I'm not bumbling in the right direction (I hope).

Oh, and I've been assigned an artist, so that's exciting. I think s/he reads this journal, so if you do, a note: [livejournal.com profile] helsmeta has the draft of Act I, and should be sending it to you soon, but you're welcome (and encouraged!) to e-mail me if you have any questions/comments/thoughts/etc. I'm totally open to suggestions. Plus, if we're in contact, I can send you the draft of Act II as soon as it's done, rather than going through her. Also, there's one major structural issue in Act I that might mean a few scenes will be removed, so you might want to know that in advance.

Imma stop rambling now and: finish my salad, finish the scene I'm working on (it's a fun one!), and get as much snippeting down before I leave for the Metro station in an hour. Fun times.

Edit In case anyone's curious, the count for Act II is now up to 8050 and I'm shutting it down so I can leave for the station in a few.

OMG IT WAS A GROUP INTERVIEW!!!

Words cannot express my displeasure about this.

Well, one way or the other, I should find out in a few days. I'll likely have to drop my first paycheck on clothes to be able to wear to work (I shop at the store occasionally, but uniform is clothes from that store, and I have pants but no shirts). I also dropped of the applications I'd done for a few other places, because I want to cover my bases. We'll see what happens.

Next tasks to tackle: a coherent e-mail to [livejournal.com profile] indywind about some plot development issues; the community college's online course catalogue, and registration; D&D tomorrow with [livejournal.com profile] allandaros and the gang. I still haven't picked my spell paths. Eep?

My brother must have learned this from Mum, but he's started doing what can only be described as Round-Robin Arguments. He'll start yelling at Mum, then come yell and me, then go back to yelling at Mum. The only reason Dad hasn't been involved is because he's at a conference in Hawaii. And, of course, Mum's not talking to Dad because he didn't take her with, and he realized weeks ago that he'd screwed that one up so he's been getting pissy about everything imaginable. It's really, really unpleasant.

I also finally balanced my checkbook, for the first time since I opened the account in October. It took be about four hours, and now I feel terrible because I know exactly what I've wasted my money on in the last six months.

I'm going to break my down mood by walking to the library to return two books, pay a fine, and get out something to read.

To-Do To-Day
- balance checkbook
- library
- wash downstairs bathroom
- shower
- try out new hair removal thingie

- finish list of items donated on Saturday
- write

Somehow, I don't have any laundry or dishes to do today, at least until after dinner. It's amazing.

Geek Moment: Watching TNG episode "The Defector" last night, I recognised that the Romulan captain was Andreas Katsulas...also known as G'Kar from Babylon 5. I am such a dork.
