melayneseahawk: (up to no good)

Wow, I have gotten out of the habit of watching new episodes of tv shows as they air. I tend to do the pirate thing these days. Arr.

But, I was able to watch the season finale of White Collar, and I have to say that, while I'm not at all surprised that they left us with a cliffhanger, I'm really annoyed that we still don't know if Kate is a good guy or a bad guy. I mean, yeah, of course, Neal was supposed to be in the air when the plane blew, so it could look like an accident. And presumably Kate was still on the plane (Dad thinks she escaped before it blew, but I'm not sure there would have been time), but I still don't trust her. And I don't trust Alex's motives, either, but maybe I'm just paranoid.

On the other hand, the idea that June was in on the heist made me so damned happy.

And nothing you can tell me will convince me that Diana and her girlfriend didn't move to DC so they could get married this week. It makes me too happy.

If you're watching White Collar, I'd love to know your thoughts unless you contradict me about Diana. So, potential spoilers in the comments.

Also, I need a White Collar icon.

Go talk with [livejournal.com profile] asimaiyat about it over here :)

(She's a good friend from RPGnet and another MoCo person, but now removed to UNC.)

White Collar is my flavor of the moment. I'm loving it even more than Burn Notice and Chuck which is saying something impressive considering how awesome the current seasons of those shows have been.

I'm really happy with the cliffhanger they left us. I don't think I could have handled Neal getting on that plane and going off with Kate (you know, if the plane hadn't exploded) because Peter would have been broken. And I can't handle a broken Peter any more than I can handle a broken Neal, but as long as they are together I'll get through it somehow.

I'm no completely convinced that Kate is dead, and the only reason for that is because I never liked her character and I thought Neal's devotion to her was ridiculously misplaced and therefore she may not be dead because she still has to pull his strings. (I was a horrible person last night though, I cheered when the plane blew up with her seemingly in it. I shouldn't hate her so much, but I do.)

I actually quite enjoy Alex, I really hope she's not evil. She has lots of chemistry with Neal and she's pretty awesome, in that criminal sort of way. I love that she was going to double cross Neal but instead brought the box back so she wouldn't have Peter chasing after her. O_o Peter FTW.

June is magical, I hope we get to see more of her in season 2. I really love when she and Moz are spending time together. The scene last week with the Parcheesi and the mimosas was fantastic. Along with El, June is one of Neal's biggest legit allies. Moz is always on his side too, but well, he's technically a criminal. (I'm leaving Peter out because when Peter's faith in Neal wavers it's always El or June there to point out that Neal is a good person and wouldn't have done whatever he's suspected of. See "All In" and that one with the jade elephants.)

So I hope you don't hate me, but I'm actually kind of annoyed with Diana right now. Because you see, I love, love, love Natalie Morales and when I found out she joined the cast of the show I was ecstatic. And the writers didn't give Lauren Cruz much to do and when she was on all fandom seemed to be able to do was bitch about Cruz and how much they missed Diana. So Diana was in the pilot for like a grand total of 10 minutes and in this episode for about the same and we have so much more back story on her than we got in an entire season with Lauren. And I can't help but be bitter. I mean, Diana is amazing and I love that she's a lesbian who has a really successful career and that it's not something that is pointed out as a difference it's just part of who she is. (Peter's we don't ask and we don't care line in the pilot is happy making.) That makes me really happy, but I can't help but be bitter about Lauren getting the shaft for an entire season by the writers and fans while Diana is this magic golden child everyone is falling over. I hate that the treatment of Lauren has negatively impacted my view of Diana, because I want to think she's awesome but right now I'm just bitter. :/ *channels Daniel Jackson complete with hand movements* Any way that just happens to be how I feel about it, what do you think?

I went into this ep completely unspoiled, so I didn't even know there was going to be a cliffhanger. And then BOOM and I may have squeaked just a little. Not because I like Kate (I really don't like her; I'm a romantic at heart, but I just want Neal to realize that she's evil and get over her already), but because I was just so surprised.

Grr, I'm just pissed that we can't have Cruz and Diana. TV does not have enough awesome female characters, or awesome characters of color, or awesome female characters of color. A mainstream cable TV show with three awesome female characters of color? Would have made my year.

(So no, I don't hate you. :D I just like seeing incidentally lesbian characters on TV.)

Yeah, I was sad to find out that we're losing Cruz to get Diana back. I am a fan of both. And also Jones. So IDK who I'd fire if I had to to squeeze them all in. Could I fire Fowler? :D

I knew there would be a cliffhanger because there was a cliffhanger mid-season. Definitely not the cliffhanger I was expecting though. I seriously thought Neal was going to leave Peter and I was going to be a sad panda until season 2. I don't like Kate, I wish that they had written her in a way that didn't make her suck so hard, because my reaction to the plane going boom shouldn't have been excitement that she was dead. I was a little surprised they dealt with Kate like that. I expected her to be a thorn in Peter's side for much longer.

Yeah, see that's what I don't understand either. Can't Peter work with Cruz and Diana. Isn't there room for both of them? And I love Jones sfm, but you know he got eleventy bajillion times more screen time than Cruz and Natalie was listed as a main character and Sharif was a guest star. I don't understand guys!

(It's really fantastic that she's incidentally lesbian, and the show went there with her character I just wish she didn't show up in this episode as some magical fix-it person and kick Lauren out on her keister. :/ I want to love them all!)

If you want to see Natalie being awesome you should totally check out The Middleman there are only twelve episodes but it's fantastic and where all my Natalie Morales love came from. ♥ Going solely on knowing you like Stargate and White Collar I think you'd enjoy it. :)

Heh, good guess on The Middleman; I'm a big fan. My overall tv watching is rather eclectic, but I'm not fannish about most of it.

I love that show so much! I just pimped it to a friend because we've been talking about Natalie Morales and as a result I just started rewatching it. Seriously, it's a damn shame that it only got one season. :(

I get fannish spurts but usually I'm not in stuff for the long haul. I think White Collar might be one of those long haul fannish shows.
