is it bad that i yell at the tv set?
Tuesday, 9 March 2010 23:33Wow, I have gotten out of the habit of watching new episodes of tv shows as they air. I tend to do the pirate thing these days. Arr.
But, I was able to watch the season finale of White Collar, and I have to say that, while I'm not at all surprised that they left us with a cliffhanger, I'm really annoyed that we still don't know ( spoilers )
And nothing you can tell me will convince me that Diana and her girlfriend didn't move to DC so they could get married this week. It makes me too happy.
If you're watching White Collar, I'd love to know your thoughtsunless you contradict me about Diana. So, potential spoilers in the comments.
Also, I need a White Collar icon.

In Remembrance
Saturday, 11 July 2009 01:51Just sobbed my way through the finale of "Children of Earth", the Torchwood miniseries. And then sobbed on Mom's shoulder for a good 15 minutes.
Not to say it shouldn't be watched. It should come with a warning: do not watch if suffering from partially-managed clinical depression; you really won't like enjoy the experience. I might do something more thorough re: my thoughts about it, but I'm not sure I'll be able to. We'll see.
I have to say, though, I doubt I'll be watching anything new they put out. Too bad they finally learned how to write, only to rip my heart out.
I really should know better.

Friday, 3 July 2009 17:58Brain's a mess (don't want to talk about it), so I slept late, worked on the website, and now a meme while I WoW. Very constructive, I know.
List 10 platonic male/female relationships in fiction that you enjoy. My attempt at rules:
1. They interact in canon, preferably in a significant way.
2. They are not related. They can, however, view each other as surrogate family.
3. Neither has confessed or implied romantic love for the other in canon.
4. They have not dated, been married, had sex, or made out in canon, on purpose, and of their own free will.
5. A popular fanon ship is OK (though not your ship) but a canon pairing you wish were just friends is out.
6. Try to avoid using the same character or series twice.
7. They don't have to be friends.
1. Stargate SG-1 - Daniel and Sam: Ah, the Wondertwins. I think they're the only ones who understand what the other is talking about most of the time. I think my favorite scene is in the pilot, when they first meet, and they're babbling along, finishing each others' sentences, while Jack, Ferretti, and Kowalski just roll their eyes.
2. Harry Potter - Harry and Hermione: I'm sure she spends a lot of time explaining things more than once, but these two (well, three, because Ron is in there, too) could take over the world if they wanted to.
2a. Remus and Lily: Probably the only thing that kept the Marauders in line.
3. Firefly/Serenity - Mal and Zoe: Their friendship is one that was forged under extreme conditions. They know each other probably better than anyone else does.
3a. Mal and Kaylee: He totally sees her as a little sister.
3b. Mal and River: Ditto.
4. Stargate Atlantis - Ronon and Teyla: They're alone in a sea of Lanteans. I have this mental image of them getting together on Friday nights to eat junk food and talk about how crazy those Earthers are.
5. Eureka - Jack and Jo: Together, they fight crime! And she could totally whoop his ass.
6. There are no women in Supernatural, but I'd probably go with the Boys and Ellen, since they don't see her as a maternal figure, which I think is neat.
7. There are no women in Star Wars, either, so I guess I'll go with Obi Won and Amidala, because there's definitely trust there.
8. (New) Doctor Who - Tenth Doctor and Donna: I didn't like her at first, but she calls the Doctor on his shit in a way that I don't even think Rose would do, and it's good for him.
9. Torchwood - Ianto and Tosh: They both strike me as basically (brilliant) normal people who just got sucked into the crazy. I think they had a bond we never saw on screen.
9a. Ianto and Gwen: Being jealous of each other is a relationship, right?
10. Star Trek: The Next Generation - Picard and Guinan: This is another one where canon tells us that they're really close, but they never tell us why. I would love to have seen it.

Monday, 8 June 2009 00:05Plan for tomorrow is to try to get to the DMV and renew my learner's permit. Then a job interview (OMG help), and then shopping for underwear and possibly some nicer shirts. I've got maybe four shirts that are nice and can be worn in polite company, and even if I don't get this job, I'm going to need more than that. We'll see what happens.
Tuesday, I'm going to be meeting up with
despiojarse12, and possibly
allandaros and
kashmir_ki_kali, for tea. I haven't seen
despiojarse12 since last summer, when he and another friend met me near our old high school while I was taking driver's ed. I miss seeing that crew every day, I really do.
Since I finished my Trek: OS rewatch, I've now started a TNG rewatch. As much as OS amused me, TNG is still my first love. I was literally raised on it: it started the year I was born, and I grew up watching a blend of TNG and Sesame Street. It definitely explains why I'm warped.
Also, I'm almost done already with the cross stitch I'm making for Mum's birthday next month. Once it's done, I'm going to have pictures of the process, and I think I'll even be able to convince one of the boys to take pictures while I wash and frame it. It's very pretty. :D
And now, to bed.

Have been catching up on my TV, and is it just me, or was it really creepy when Sylar ( spoilers for Heroes - 4.24 - I Am Sylar ) I don't know why I still bother with this show, I really don't. It's so bad.
